Not Much Of A Blog / Jim Coyle:
This Blog is 'Not Much of A Blog' because I don't update it much more than every 9 months or so. I'm now going to officially rename it 'The Not Much Of A Blog' and be done with it. It may soon even vanish from the site all together.

I've noticed that people keep searching on our site for Jim Coyle. Jim Coyle was a very proficient guitarist, electronics engineer and recording enthusiast based in Wanganui, New Zealand in the 1960s. Jim made a number of important recordings of his own and other Wanganui musician's music during this period. He also co-wrote material and performed with Peter Posa. We would very much like to get in touch with Jim in order to speak with him regarding our Wanganui Music Archiving project. If anyone knows how to get hold of Jim we'd love to hear from you.

Email Problems, CDs in the mail, and Nev on imeem:
Firstly, apologies to all those who have tried to contact us over the last few weeks - we've had various problems with our email, and also with our form mail system, which means we may have missed emails from some of you. If you've contacted us recently and haven't heard back we're really sorry. It's not us being rude - it's just the bugs in the system. Hopefully we'll be all sorted in the next few days so please try again at the end of the week. We really DO want to hear from you!

This week I've received a bundle of great CDs from Monkey Records and another collection from Shane Taylor. We've also received stuff recently from Gypsy Pennefeather, The Moon Whispers, The Robba, and Respective Circ. To you guys, and all the others who've sent us stuff over the years a huge thanks! We love your music, a lot of it we'd never get to hear or play if you didn't send it in, and your contributions help make the Gavland radio stream what it is today. If you've sent stuff in recently and haven't heard it yet don't panic - we'll be adding more tracks soon.

Former GB Band drummer, Neville Messent has set up a profile page on imeem. I was lucky to work with Nev over many years and have recently had the privilage of working with him again at Sasquatch. I talk about this in more detail on my diary page. The stuff I recorded with Nev, including the pseudo prog epic 'Sophia's Child' will be included on my next studio album. So check out Nev's imeem page, Orite!

This Year's Projects:
Two Gavin Burgess CDs are in progress this year - 'The Mother Back to Strong Down: 1995-2007', which should be out soon, and an album of new material which is slated for the end of the year. The 'Water Under The Bridge' project is also approaching completion and a new a remastered version of the 'Top Secret' album is well under way. It already sounds like a busy year but that's not all: Gavin is also writing soundtrack material and songs for Alan Clay's Dance Sisters movie and online game. Alan's company, Artmedia, are currently holding auditions for female Dancers, Singers, Actors..

01 October 2007:

It seems like it's been rather too long since our last post here - due mostly to extreme busyness on the part of everyone involved. As is becoming usual what we have to report here is a whole bunch of changes to the site - including a brand new look and the addition of a forum section (soon), a second hand vinyl & CD shop (also open for business soon), and new ways for New Zealand customers to buy from our store. Our international shop has also been updated and we are adding piles of new product over the coming months! - So, as always, we wish you happy surfing and shopping at Gavland.

04 August 2005:

Wow! Look at us now! We've just made a whole bunch of changes on the site, rebuilt our index page (which now looks just amazing!), added 'Ads by google' (please visit our sponsors!), and have our shopping cart and checkout working at last at Gavland CDs. Here you can buy MP3s and eBooks - and we'll have CDs and printed books on sale soon! Yep, we've been plenty busy here at Gavland. We hope you enjoy the new look site.....

p.s. The radio stream has been down for the last fortnight due to some changes in our sponsor's, DTS, network - but should be running again by the end of the week.

15 March 2005:

Welcome to our Brand New Blog Page on our Brand New Gavland New Zealand Music site. Of course when we say brand new, we mean the current site design rather than the site itself which has been around for quite a while now.

This page is primarily designed to keep site visitors up to date with what's going on at Gavland, as well as keeping you clued with news about our sales pages and our Kiwi Music Radio site at www.gavland.fm.

The old Gavin Burgess pages which used to be a part of this site are now located at Gavin's new home site www.gavinburgess.com.
