Local Music Initiative - Wanganui

The Wanganui Local Music Initiative is a vehicle for the promotion of recordings by Wanganui bands.

Facilitated by Gavland and Sasquatch Studio, the Initiative is currently focussed on the archiving of recordings by Wanganui musicians and bands. The wealth of Wanganui's musical heritage is remarkably large for such a small city, and Wanganui musicians have figured prominently in many New Zealand bands as well as in a number of successful international acts.

One of our intentions for these web pages is to eventually provide an index of Wanganui's bands and musicians, past and present, as well as an exhaustive catalogue of local recordings. As a beginning to this we are nearing completion of our first project, a compilation CD of Wanganui recordings dating from the mid 1950s through to the present day.
